Well, I have improved my Laptop base from what it was.

Member Eric was quite impressed with my mail box pedestal laptop base in between the two bucket seats but it proved to be cumbersome and in the way. I removed it and have built the HF in, in its place.

Now I have made up a 'designer' base from MDF(my favourite building material) which fits on top of the dash shelf. Had to move the UHF and the GPS to different locations and had to lengthen some power and earth cables. The MDF is stylishly cut with an angled curve. Painted black to reflect the somber mood of the utilitarian dash layout, this new fitting works very well with the laptop able to to be free standing and not being an impediment to the drivers view. Cost..........NIL $0 nothing...built from scrap and a whole morning of stuffing around....but then, I have the time.

See ya in the bush.

Yep, everything has a use and as one project is completed the scap is stored for the next project...and believe me I come up with all sorts of ideas.....not all of them work but that is what experimentation is all about.

Willem,

I guess we know now what those indestructable black boxes are made of, that it is suggested we should make aircraft from. Be ultimatley still standing when the orange has all gone.
