Hi everyone, am thinking of doing the Birsdville track for the first time and wanted to know if I could have a gauge for conditions if anyone has gone recently. Got an X-trail

It's a wide dirt superhighway when it's dry. Just watch for the odd rough patch so best not to travel too fast. Good AT tyres will give you less trouble.

I did it in a Corolla in 1978. As above it is a maintained gravel road.
Xtrail is fine. Need tyres with plenty of tread, don't overload the vehicle, air down the tyres a bit, and don't drive fast.

Should be called the Birdsville Highway these days, not track

If it rains it becomes a track pretty quick. :-)
