Hi Guys. Does anyone know what the Wilcania Bourke Road is like at the moment? Is it sealed or mainly dirt? Is it suitable for caravans?

Thanks,

Spanner

We drove from Bourke to Wilcania last November and found the road no trouble at all. Nearly all dirt, some corrugation but that depends how recently it has been graded. Would not hesitate to tow a van through, taking your time and enjoying glimpses of the Darling River, plenty of campsites. Back then the river was almost dry but ran during the summer months I heard. cheers.

Road through White Cliffs and Waanaring is a good dirt. OK for caravans except after heavy rain. Road through Nyngan is sealed.

hi spanner,
mainly dirt, not suitable to drive anything after rain. and it doesn't take much believe me. and it gets a slippery as grease. there is just no way you will stay on the road especially with a van pushing from behind.

having said that i towed a campertrailer along it with no probs. it did rain but i just had to stay put for an extra day till we got the all clear from the bush telegraph that the roads had dried up enough.

there is nothing i saw that was real tight or would hinder a caravan travelling along there

I did that trip 3 weeks ago, the road is dirt but was being graded while I was there. So should be good now, unless it's rained again.

Cheers

Took our caravan through it late April - it was a good average dirt road - no problems, but fairly dusty. I'd missed sealing a caravan window so go a bit of dust in. Does it ever rain out there?
