Byfield National Park QLD - PMK3AUSTRALIA

Hi All
Here's a short video from our visit to Byfield NP. QLD.
Just a short drive north from Yeppoon, we explore the park & beaches.
A lot of sand driving & we even get stuck on Five Rocks beach for a short time........
Some beautiful landscapes & fun four wheel driving in this park.........
Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Have a Great Christmas & even Better New Year.
Cheers
Paul & Michelle

That 5 Rocks beach is pretty soft…we drove down there late one arvo mid week on our own, as soon as I hit the beach I thought geez this is abit softer then I’d thought it’d be. I already was down around 18psi, drove up towards the rocks and found some firmer ground to deflate my tyres some more, before later hitting that uphill beach exit with some firm right foot

Yeah ! Caught us out too as you saw. We were on 18psi also. Had been all day, even over the big dune with no real effort.
As soon as we got on the beach at Five Rocks I knew we were in trouble.
12psi worked well once we dropped to it & we were out in no time. Should have tried that first instead of all the digging..... Lol.
Top spot though & Beautiful park overall
Next visit there we'll be a bit wiser....

12 is the locally recommended starting pressure for Byfield. Had you been a month or two earlier before all the rain that those tracks have clearly had, there is no chance you would have made it past the first big dune at 18. In September we were twin locked at 12 psi to do it. That’s the joy of sand. Easy some days, a conundrum the next.

Yeah, I guess the rain would help harden up the tracks. We were already half way up the big dune before we realised we were actually on it. Found it easy on that occasion at 18psi.
Have since seen videos of many vehicles struggling up that one.
Well you live and learn..... This was our first visit there & next time it'll be 12psi......
Funny the run along nine mile beach was a different story all together.
Still a great place & we had a fantastic day there. Would go again.
Cheers

Re The sand problem at 5 Rocks, like you I only carry 2 Max Treds, after that exercise are you going to purchase another 2?

Hi Peter
Not really a problem, just a bump in the tracks.
Been thinking about getting another pair of Treds. Just haven’t got around to it
Funny though, we always manage to get out & on our own.
So still thinking about it Lol.
Cheers

Another great video Paul and Michelle. Those storm clouds looked great rolling in and looks like you had fun getting up that dune from the beach.

Thanks for taking the time to share and wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a great 2022.
