Subject to covid restrictions, I hope to drive Sandy Blight
Junction Rd later this year. Planning to refuel in
Kintore and wondering if anyone knows if you can pay for a hot shower anywhere in community?

Fuel, hopefully, will be available. No where for a paying shower though. Just take a couple of 2 litre bottles of water and shower yourself. More if more people.

Fuel and a
shop. No showers when we were there last, which was a while ago now.
We arrived there on one occasion when the community was in 'sorry time'. It was not a good time to visit and we have avoided going there since, but that should not be a judgement of the community in normal times.
Sandy Blight is a great drive.
EDIT: Goodness. I have a
pic of the community
shop from June 2003. The fuel is a bit further to the right.
Walungurru community store 2003.
Cheers,

P&M: "We arrived there on one occasion when the community was in 'sorry time'. It was not a good time to visit"
That's a "generic" issue at community facilities. Have run across it several times now. Can put a dent in your timetable when you are just passing through (e.g. we NEVER stay at
Warburton) but all you can do is respect their practices and suck it up.

Perhaps I was fortunate that it was never "sorry time" when I popped into any of the communities I've visited over the years?!
For comparison with Peter's
pic...two pics of the Walungurru/

Hi Candace,
Wow, Looks more like a prison
camp than a community store. Sadly, changing times.

The last time we were there, as you entered the store, everyone was going to one side, and we soon found out why.
Some kind local adult took short and there was a turd near
the entrance into the store.

We travelled down the Sandy Blight track in early July, ‘18, and camped at an unnamed
bore & pump in some Mulga country just east of WA border. Co-ordinates are: 23°42.136’S; 129°17.650’E.
Highlighted Flag-Bore n Pump, SBH
There was a group already camped right at the
bore, so we camped in an open area about 100M to the south-east. We all had a bogey there, water was pretty good!

Thanks for that info Bob
I had read that there is another
hand pump /
bore about 17km on WA side of
border crossing, do you recall any other bores?

One of our party mentioned a 2nd
bore, Dunworkin, but I don’t recall that we noticed it. We’d been travelling for about 5 weeks at that stage, and once we got out of the delightful Desert Oak country, it was a bit of “pedal 2 the metal” to get to
Yulara by dark, which we almost achieved.

Hi Dunworkin. I did that trip in Aug 18. I called into
Kintore but the
shop was shut for the afternoon. I had plenty of fuel anyway so I just kept going.
For what it's worth, I also did a terrible YouTube video of that trip. I'm no Steven Spielberg but if you look at the portion between the 11 minute and 30 minute marks, it may be useful for you.

Every time I
test that link, it jumps to the 26 minute mark of the video. Don't know if it does that for anyone else but if it does, just jump back to that 11 minute mark.
