Just wondering what types of roads one may encounter on this journey?
I have done from Maree to
Oodnadatta some years ago.
How would this journey compare to, eg.,
Windorah to
Birdsville in average year?
Thankyou in advance.
Duncan

Would be much the same as the
Oodnadatta Track I would think?
A good gravel road, unless it rains a bit?
Just drive to conditions

Came through that route a week-10 days ago.
Oodnadatta Track was "good", northern end of the Borefield Road was "good" with a few spots powdering up. Did not see the southern end.
Cheers,

Hi Duncan,
This is a question where there is really no definitive answer, as the road conditions can change overnight. Having said that, I have travelled both roads you have mentioned on several occasions, each has its own sections where road conditions can vary greatly. On the whole, I would say that the
Birdsville Development Road is generally in good condition where you can travel at 80 kph most of the time. Of course, heavy rain in the area will change that. Very similar to the
Oodnadatta Track.
Macca.
