Hi Everyone
Ive got an old Ironman 50L camping fridge. I had it fixed a while ago (can’t remember the issue) and has been working great up until recently.
I hadn’t used it for a few months and now when I turn it on it doesn’t cool anymore. Thermostat reads correctly and it sounds like the motor/fan is working. Any ideas on what the issue could possibly be?
thanks!!

At a guess Id say gas issues.
If the compessor is running and the discharge pipe from the compressor to the condenser is getting hot and the evaporator isnt getting cold then it is out of refrigerant.

Ok cool thanks for the info. I thought it might have something to do with the gas.
Just trying to decide whether it’s worth getting fixed or buying a new one.
Is refrigerant and easy fix?

Depends where the leak is but generally speaking better off with a new fridge.
They come new fully sealed and to repair a service port has to be fitted and thats a leak waiting to happen.

I’ve tried putting ice blocks/packs to try and get it started and the temp on the thermostat drops a bit but only from the ice

Putting stuff in the fridge won't make any difference it either works or if doesn't. How old is the fridge out of interest?

I think if its a few years old and its already been repaired once and out of warranty, its probably not worth repairing. If it has a leak and needs gas, the cost of the repair, new dryer and gas would be more than half the cost of a new one. regards Michael
