Hi Craig
The most important factor is the weather.
It’s great country out there, but is it’s wet, it’s a very different story.
There are talks at the moment that Outback Queensland is in for some incredible rainfalls over the next week, so keep an eye on what eventuates.
Enjoy your trip.

More than just talk. Check out the BOM rainfall forecast maps. Not pretty, unless perhaps you're a farmer still in drought. Just ruined our carefully laid plans.

I recently went to
Birdsville (16/04/2020) and got COVID. Half the town were in isolation. Should be over before you go there but check first.

Take a head net, in fact, take a few. You should be able to flog them off for $100 each to the poor folks choking to death on the flys. Now you could be lucky, they could have a cold snap and they might die off for a few days, but don't count on it.
Been there more than once, same each time.
Enjoy :-)
