Soon after the road opens to "all traffic" after the wet season and before the tourists get it all corrugated again.

Be aware that the Robinson river crossing may be covered by large rocks. A high clearance vehicle would have no problems. I've seen locals crossing it in a sedan, but you wouldn't want that sort of damage to the underside of your motor home.

Before moving a big one make sure it does not have teeth and a tail. The Robinson River is known to have crocs.

A cautionary tale about crossing the Robinson River:

Tourists spend night on car roof in croc-infested waters

We met folk with a similar setup to yours on the Savannah way. They were travelling very slowly & enjoying themselves, but I recall thinking that if I had a rig like that I probably wouldn't be finding it so enjoyable. They had quite a long rear overhang & i wondered if they might have trouble on a couple of the river crossings we had already been over, where the overhang could be quite an impediment dropping into the water & exiting it. We never ever heard of a stranded motorhome though, so I guess there is a good chance they made it. Roads & rivers change with the seasons so if it wee me I would want to be carrying sufficient fuel to cover me in case I had to turn back.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. There are some very sharp dips into creek crossings.

Robo now has a big bridge so is no problem. Did it 2 weeks ago. Calvert 30cm deep , others nearly dry as Wet in that area failed after January.
I towed a1400kg van with a Prado and did not need 4wd except at the Calvert as a precaution.
