Leaving the great southern of w.a. Tomorrow morning heading to
Birdsville. Hoping to go up the
Birdsville track. Anyone heading the same way , and any news of the track conditions going north.
We have been told you can now get through the last 5 km of road into
Birdsville.
There is a massive difference in our route selection, based on access, 2450km compared to 4500km and we need to choose when we drive out our driveway unfortunately.
Thanks in advance Doug

Not sure where in the great southern you are, but just using Katanning as a starting point:
Katanning ->
Birdsville (Norseman/PortAugusta) = 3096
Katanning ->
Birdsville (Alice/
Boulia) = 3860
It's still 2500km+ from
Norseman via the south approach.
If you're towing, the BV Track *may* still be out of bounds when you reach
Marree. Probably not, but by then your goose is browning nicely and your options are zilch.
Having been both ways TBH from here in
Perth I'd personally go via
Boulia.

Hi Doug,
Checkout the
Birdsville Hotel Facebook page, or better still, give them a call. They have the best experience in determining which and for how long the roads are likely to be closed for.
Macca.
