Does anyone have docs or knowledge on HCIP-1000 Power Inverter. Has 1000w continuous 2000w peak. Has two switches near 240v power end. One switch says Charger. The other switch has Inverter labelled. Has mini fuse holder under switch. There is also a power lead coming off under switches with a PIN end on it. Is it an imbuilt battery charger or what. Confused.
John.

Not sure of that exact unit, John, but inverter/chargers are popular with the boating industry for shore power applications. Some are compatible with Lithium batteries, others not (Victron sells a 2000W inverter charger - 80a charger - for around $2500 from memory). They are also used as UPS systems for computing/electronics.

A number of inverters (Renogy for instance) allow connection to 240v for transferring power (automatic transfer to 240v when connected).

Good luck finding out what yours does! Highly likely it is a charger, but for what batteries, at what amperage?

Cheers,
Mark

Yes, an uninterupted power supply setup for instance. plug in a van park and it charges your battery, turn power off and it inverts 240 automatically

No, not a photo, it is a link to a website by clicking on the word "this".
On that website, if you hover your pointer over the image it will enlarge. And clicking on the "More" button in the lower RH will open a comprehensive page.

Hi John,

Let me state that I am not a 12 volt expert, or an Auto. Elec. and without knowing the actual unit, most inverters only have a 10 or 15 amp output, as most 240 volt appliances only need 10 amps. The side that is labeled “charger” may have a higher discharge amperage. Someone will correct me if I am mistaken.

As I mentioned earlier, the Victron Inverter/Charger (well, one model at least) has an 80a charger...

I have had a closer look at the web pages that I referred to.
If this product has similar quality to the content of those pages then I would avoid it like the plague!

Didn't you get a handbook or leaflet with the device? If you did, what does it say?
