Exploreoz app was working fine for many weeks in offline maps mode on my Samsung S7+ tablet purchased December last year. Around the middle of May the location position was working on and off and then stopped working pretty much from then on. The maps are obviously still there but will not show my position/location on the map.
I can close and open the app but it makes no difference. The satellite icon in the upper left corner of the screen is green.
I’m not sure what to do to diagnose the problem. I have checked the permissions in the settings on the tablet but they seem to be ok. Have thought about un-installing the app and re-installing it but l have saved track data/log and do not wish to lose that, but also not sure what to do to diagnose the problem or whether it is a gps problem with the tablet or an issue with the exploreoz ap.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Just checking the obvious.. you've clicked the little Bulls Eye Icon on the bottom left to centre the map on your location yeah?

Hmmm. Sounds like it could be a hardware issue to me. Does the GPS work with other nav apps, like Google Maps? If not then there is a hardware issue. There's a very good app called GPS Status which tests all the sensors in your device, including GPS. There's a free version. Might be worth a look.

Also, saved treks, private Places and track logs are saved to your account on EO servers, not on the device, so you won't lose them if you uninstall/reinstall. Just make sure you've saved EVERYTHING you want to keep.

Thanks Frank, I'll chase up the app and let it test gps. If l am connected to the internet, it will provide a position on the map but l am presuming that it is taking positioning from cell towers, as soon as l am away from internet then no positioin again on the map.

Have you done an Android update that might have altered permissions?

Is Location switched on? (I suspect it is to get the cell towers info, but worth a check)

RE the GPS Status app, you should see a squillion satellites - GPS, Bidou, Gallileo, Glonass.Well, about 20 anyway LOL.

Hi Phil from Nullagine...
Perhaps the GPS driver in your device has crashed and needs a reboot. This will occur when you reboot your device, ie. Power off/restart the device. Certainly no issue with the app. We've been travelling into some remote offline areas and pushing every limit of the app for weeks on end then returning to service etc and all syncing beautifully. App is running 100% in every way.

Hi Michelle, l have tried rebooting, resetting, factory reset, location off and back on and anything else l could think of.
Tomorrow l am taking it to a samsung centre for them to have a look.
When it is resolved I'll let you know the outcome.
Cheers,
Phil

Hi everyone, after doing a factory reset the night before taking the tablet to Samsung for repairs, there was still no gps, however the next morning l tried it again the using the gps status app that Frank suggested and it was working again.
I tested it in my local area with exploreoz and all seemed to be fine again. l am thinking that a software update may have caused the problem.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
Kind Regards,
Phil
