just brought a compact flash gps of ebay cost me $100 this item works well with both a PDA and laptop. I brought a ACER N10 PDA for $390 from organiser world this is a great option for $500 gives you a muti purpose item for the price of a average gps. Dowloaded the ozexplorer ce version to it last night and tested it today works great. If anyone is looking at this option the ACER N10 is a good option because it has a built in compact flash slot as well a SD/MMC slot with the ability to use both slots at the same time so on the SD card I have the maps loaded and the GPS plugs into the compact flash slot. With the use of a pcmia adapter it also can be used with your laptop my GPS came with the adapter. Has anyone out had any problems with these type of GPS

Wanted to set up some sort of GPS and was thinking of doing same. Have a Ipaq 3970 with cf slot., have hesitated because I read or heard somewhere it may freeze up. Am going to take pda to Oblis to try out.
There is a blue tooth option avlb also but big bucks, have been told extension ant. is highly recommended unless you want to melt the pda on the dash. Don't understand enough about it yet to take plunge. Need to read up.
Is it retailed on ebay or a one off ?

John C,

I use an Ipaq 5450 with a CF GPS and external aerial. I have transferred SE Qld maps to a 512MB SD card. Works a treat and is fantastic to use. I have it mounted in the dash with an omni-directional adapter I got from Brisbane.

Wife loves it, not having a laptop on her knee, and takes an interest in where we are going.

If you are in Brisbane you can have a look, contact me on ian@bytesite.com.au
Regards
Ian
