Has anyone used this road between Ton Price and
Karratha. I think that it should be a
well maintained road as the permit says that the max speed is 80 km/h evan though the permit also states that it is not designed for public use.

I didn’t start at
Tom Price, joined at road coming out of Karijini and only as far as
Millstream turnoff.
Great drive on good dirt road through some lovely
Pilbara country.
Marvel at the guys who built that rail line in the 1960s without the giant machines we see today.
Ran into a Rio security guy (not literally) who checked my permit and breath tested me!
Cheers

It is a service road for the railway. Do they still make you sit and watch the movie and get inducted at
Tom Price?
Nice enough dirt road.

It was two years ago but I applied for my permits on line before leaving
home. Watch video and answer quiz. Valid for a month if I recall correctly.

We did the road back in 2015. Applied on-line prior to leaving
home. There is a
test that you must pass before you get your permit. All a little dramatic but as it is a private road you really have little choice. Nevertheless the road is
well worth driving.
