The photo got me interested to see how long it would take me to find out about it on the internet. Not many secrets with the net these days. Took about two minutes to find it. Won’t spoil it for others. A very interesting read about a long unsupported rail tunnel in QLD. Something to investigate if I am up that way.
Thanks for posting the photo.
Duncan.

Just a reminder with these posts to add the photo to the relevant PLACE listing once the secret has been solved. If the Place doesn't exist, simply add it including the interesting information. Otherwise its a shame to loose all the information in the
Forum threads when it is best in the hands of travellers using the Traveller app.
PS: historically these posts were called
Pick this Place. If you run a search through the
Forum you'll find all the previous ones.

Good luck with that Michelle I think it might be left up to you people seem to like to use these things but don't seem to want to participate in any input themselves i.e. traveller locations etc.

I think I am barking up the wrong tree here. The only tunnel I can reference is the BoolBoona Rail tunnel at
Gin Gin. It was built to service the copper
mine and part of the
Bundaberg to Mt Perry rail Line

That is correct GarryR. Duncamm actually had the right answer but elected to keep it to himself for a while. Good work though.
The Ingersoll drill was used in the building of the tunnel, all
rock & the longest unsupported tunnel in Queensland at 197m I think.

We walked through the tunnel a while ago, and were amazed how cold it was inside. Was quite windy in there too, though didn’t appear to be so outside? Few bats in residence too.

No, didn’t see the owl, Batsy.
Perhaps Boolboonda was Australia’s first wind tunnel? Sorry, couldn’t resist!
