Hi everyone, this destination it's a ripper.
Lake Kepwari (16 km for Collie and 215 km from Perth) is a former open cut coal mine that has been rehabilitated to establish a first-class aquatic playground. Officially opened in 2020, no expense has been spared . The camping and day areas are modern and well planned.
For nature lovers there is an abundance of wildflowers (spring) and a haven for birds. Well worth a visit.

Cheers Mike and Kendra

Thanks for posting Mike. Collie is full of fabulous places and so much to do. We were going to take a look at Lake Kepwari earlier this year but instead we chose Glen Mervyn Dam Camp Area instead and loved it there. The problem with these water skiing dams is how do we tow a ski boat and our camper? haha! Think its time we go back to Collie again.

We stayed there not long after it was officially opened, a lovely quiet place mid-week but it got a bit busy on the weekend.
I had a small inflatable boat and putted around the lake a bit.
As it was an old coal mine I walked around the banks and collected big lumps of coal for future use. Most of it has been used up by now so I might have to go and revisit the area again.
