Is the Balladonia track open? We wish to travel from Esperance to the Balladonia roadhouse via Cape Arid. A traumatic experience in the past has discouraged us from going to Israelite Bay.
We are hoping to travel there in the next few days.
Any information would be appreciated.

Balladonia Road is closed at the moment.

Go here and scroll down.

Hi Phil

Esperance Shire is to the south and the road is open to local traffic.

Some may dispute this, but I have been advised by reputable local (Norseman) sources that it will remain closed (aka permanently) as the DS shire want to avoid tourist traffic bypassing the town and its businesses, and have no interest in ecouraging that by rehabilitating the track after the fire damage.

(we always use the Hyden-Norseman Road and so do visit/stay there ...).

Why would you want people to use this track when you have a vested interest in fuel stations /Hotel/motels in Norsman and Balladonia
Just looked up ABNBalladonia

Gary, yep they are looking after their key rate-paying businesses. Balla RH is of course in DS shire, but they get the business either way.
