I just watched a YouTube from 4WD TV featuring driving into the sea at
Rainbow Beach. What a terrible program showing total stupidity. Even the leader Simon Christie had engine damage on his Iveco. There will be 10 Victorian vehicles heading for an early death due to salt ingress into wiring.

I watched it about a week ago on tv….the driving into the big
waterhole was pretty stupid, but you see that happening up there all the time, so they aren’t alone in that boat. Later as they drove up
the beach around the trees there was some pretty bad timing of waves by many of them, just showed how inexperienced most of them were at doing it. You could see one guy who timed the waves right, he easily negotiated the obstacle and showed how it should be done.

But no direction or guidance from the trip leader. The vehicles were blindly playing follow the leader, except for a couple.

Without being there it’s impossible to know what instructions they were all given, many people panic when near the waters edge and see the waves coming in at them.…personally I didn’t think it was great tv for a program to put up to show how beach driving should be done, but it’s exactly what you see occurring there every single weekend by so many other 4wd owners.

That stretch of beach is the reason why all the motor insurance policies were changed to now exclude knowingly driving into water. They were trucking 10 cars a day out of there in the holidays. Content like that just enables uneducated people to make ridiculous decisions, and no amount of squirting at the car wash is going to help undo the long term damage they’ve done to the cars.

Mike, that video illustrates why Rainbow/Teewah is known by the locals as "Bogan's Beach".
And loved some of the subtitle translations...... "kill Kevin" = Kilkiven!!!

I stayed at Teewah Thursday night last week thinking I might escape some of it. First time in years after swearing I’d never go back. Same old loud music and circle work in front of the camps all night. The only upside is I believe his car caught fire up
the beach the next morning. I recall praying that might happen around 2.00 am. Pays to be a Mick haha.

@ Gbc….sounds like nothing has changed in the past 10 odd years of us not bothering to
camp there, for those very reasons. I counted 4 rolled vehicles we knew of, and clowns doing doughnuts out front of
our camp on both nights of our last weekend stay there…needless to say we haven’t bothered going back to
camp there since.

Yes I thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt after the recent efforts by police and number plate cameras etc. I’m confident I got unlucky and found the local ratbag. It was also schoolies week and I have a special knack for finding loose units to
camp near unfortunately. The 50 km speed limit looked to be mostly followed and it isn’t as completely feral, along with the mandatory chemical
toilet rule which should have been in 10 years by now. I’ll try again in another 5 years.

There's a very high disposable dollar-to-intellect ratio evident throughout the driving sequences, IMO. I trust their sponsors are generous!

Always amazes me when you see the new car ads showing them being driven along the waters edge on a beach.
Looks good but I would never buy one of their cars in case I got the one they used in the ad.

I have only ever done two water crossings where the water came over my bonnet (and definitely not sea water either) and I sure as hell didn't drive into the crossings that fast that the water covered the windscreen and went over the roof ! Knuckleheads !!!
Happy safe and see where you are going through the windscreen travels
Cheers

I was up there 2 months ago and took my van to Noose North Shore
campground behind my old Discovery 2..
Drove up
the beach starting one hour before low tide and across the Corduroy track to
Rainbow beach side.
Got right to the rocks without a dip in water over about 6 inches deep and sloooowly.
Got to the rocks and there was deep water there even at low tide so there was a line up of cars waiting.
However some braniac with as many brains as that crew drove through from the
Rainbow Beach end in a pretty new Hilux with water spilling over the cab.
I took my car through the under car wash at Noosa North Shore near the pub to get any salt off. They blast water up under the car and it is pretty thorough.
I hate to think what the Hilux will be like in a couple of years. Maybe they will sue Toyota for a new one due to inadequate Rust protection.

Bet the sponsors are very pleased to know their names are associated with complete stupidity.
Classic example of a very stupid person leading a bunch of even stupider people.
Enjoying destroying millions of dollars worth of equipment.
Do people actually believe that carwash really gets ALL of the salty sand out?? Gets most of it but pushes some into
places it couldnt get like past seals in multiplugs.

Saltwater gets into the copper wiring. May take a year but the vehicle will eventually suffer odd intermittent faults or failures. Lights might not work or ECU will throw inexplicable codes. No one will relate the problems to the earlier salt bath. Car will then probably on sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

That will not worry them Mikee5, they are company cars and they can go anywhere, and will get traded on another new car within 12 months, and after a quick detail, someone will buy a perfect looking car that will be sold as one owner, new been off-road..........lol

So much wrong on so many levels.
Young people look to this type of media to learn and gain knowledge.
Sadly the role models and mentors
young people are forced to learn from these days are both inexperienced and definatly not wise or practical. Gone are the days when a good bloke (mentor) was both smart, savvy and respectful. No wonder we have so many idiots and bad drivers on the roads.
These guys with a Company Logo Brand on their vehicle need to step up a lot and not influence the masses in search of a Dollar for their Brand.
Way off topic I know but ....There is an interesting discussion happening on the parrallels of this type of poor role modeling affecting
young people who watch pornography. They have bizzare and outrageous expectations leading to poor self image, low self esteem and an inability to bond with and respect members of the opposite sex. I guess the same thing happens to their respect for their vehicles, the environment and themselves...

Seems to be the more you get payed from sponsors the less your brain functions. Over the yrs of filming most of these types of over paid idiots carry on about the importance of walking or inspecting water crossings then do the opposite for the sake of a dramatic set up film shot. They do the same sort of thing on dusty roads when they sit up each others arse no sympathy for idiots.

Definitely would not treat my Cruiser that way I want it to last, even if it was a company vehicle as I had in my working life and it was changed over every 12 months, I still would not give it a salt water swim, as to me, you are causing problems for the 2nd or 3rd owner.
