I use a small Samsung pad for navigation but when I downloaded the latest upgrade I have downloaded a virus with it. It looks like a pokemon app logo and is very different.
Then there is a message asking to shut down the app and it will not go away unless I shut down the pad and start again. Any help would be appreciated
PS I have sent this message from another laptop to not pass on the Virus
Regards Graham Sorensen.

Hi Graham,
I think your best option is to get your tablet “disinfected” by an expert, and try again.

Graham,
What navigation app are you referring to? - you haven't said specifically.
If it's
ExplorOz Traveller, it's only available for Android from Google Playstore. I very much doubt you would have downloaded a virus with Traveller from there. More likely you got infected elsewhere.
There are some good anti-virus apps for android. Sophos, Kaspersky and Norton spring to mind. Some are free when acting as a guard, but you may have to pay to get the cleaning function.
Failing that, maybe do a factory reset and start again.
What is the tablet's model number?
Cheers

If you contact us via the Help Desk I will help you further. From what you've said however, I suspect you have Android v7 running on this old Samsung tablet and the icon you are seeing is the Android symbol? This indicates the device/the Android OS on that device is not compatible with the new version of the app for some reason... We haven't changed compatibility support but there comes a point where old devices (or the Playstore) can just give up and we can't do anything about that.

Just confirming - not a virus on your device. There is now appearing a pattern from other users with very old Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets - S2 running Android version 7.0 or 7.1 - in that the missing Traveller app icon is replaced by the Playstore with the Android icon and this error message. David is looking into it to see if he can make a workaround and release another version. We can't guarantee that these older operating systems can be supported but we are working the problem to try anyway.

Is it possible for all us users of "old" technology to revert back to the previous (working) version until / if a work around is sorted? It would also be nice to be able to block updates for this particular app.
Cheers

PS
It seems I also have a problem with my S8 phone running Android 9. This has the correct app icon but appears to stall on the opening screen (mainly black background with ExploreOz icon in the middle).

Anyone that previously had the app working will still be able to use the latest version now that we've got these bug reports coming from the old devices we were able to fix it.
The issue only affects 2015 Android tablets running v7.0 or 7.1 of the Android operating system but is fixed in the update we have resolved today to ensure you can keep using the app.
For anyone with the
grey background and new app icon just sitting there - please give it time as this update is removing redundant log files from an internal database in the device. It should sort itself out if you just be patient. Alternatively, you can delete the files yourself - open the Settings App on your device select
ExplorOz Traveller - select Storage - select Clear Data. If you take this option however you'll need to download all offline data and offline maps again so its up to you.
