Cuppa's Blog- Another catch up from the Iron Range Rainforest

Thanks! Sadly no we didn't get down to 'Old Site' & now it's too wet. We sought permission to go down there via a 3rd party, but it wasn't given. The reason given was that there was a fair bit of roadwork going on down there, but other info subsequently came to light which made us think the refusal was more about 'protecting' us. Some folk told us 'Just go down there, it'll be fine' but having asked we felt we should respect the response we got. It is quite possible that if we had asked someone else we may have had a different response, but that's the way the cookie crumbled. Would have loved to go down , especially after reading the book about Narcisse Pelletier, the young french cabin boy shipwrecked/abandoned down there & who was subsequently adopted by the folk living down there (pre-mission of course). Would have been wonderful to try to identify some of the spots I learned about in the book.
