Don't get your point Greg. The standard term we used for UTM coords was a
grid reference if that's what you mean, but they are still coordinates. Pretty sure you know but others might be interested in section 7 of this ICSM document:

p85 has the Universal
Grid Reference box typically seen on National Mapping (et al) large scale UTM topo maps (also usually present on GA 250K and 100K geological maps iirc).
As you know, in the UTM system LL coords can be derived from UGRs, and UGRs can be derived from LL coords
I don't know how EOT operates but
grid coords require a zone ID as
well as the northings and eastings
