HAve jsut purchased a new St Nissan TD 3lt. Included in the extra that I oreder where 4 roof bars. (I have the largest Oztent). Took it for its first drive toady and was a bit horrified by the noise made by the front roof bar. Have to have for the tent but can't put up with the noise. Any suggestions

get some muddies LOL Or perhaps change the front bar for an aero model??????? The other question is why do you have to leave the front bar on without the tent on? I would have thought you wouldn't need the tent on all the time or if so wouldn't the tent make noise also?

I have the offending bar off at the moment but I am doing a 2 month trip in Sept/Oct so the tent will be on top for that whole trip. Noise will drive me crazy.

Thanks for that, he with the big engine I could't afford, I was hoping there was some miricle fix. Interest you say square. It is sort of oval. Nissan genuine bar. I will add some flat perspex and see if this changes the noise.

On a different note, what a great site this is. No matter how basic or silly the question you always get a reply.

algee before you do anything expensive just try wrapping a bit of foem around and tying with tape if it stops it ??? should??? then you can do something any way shouldnt make the noise when packed as the airflow will be altered

Had the same prob on my gu with a roof rack put a sheet of 3mm aluminium checker plate over the first 3 runs simular to arb's fixed it .
Single bar maybe a wind defector of some sort . lf the bars are a u channel with an open top a page of rolled up magazine [playboy hustler] inserted in the channel can do the trick found that one out by accident.
