Hi I have a Nissan Gu Patrol 7/2007 - ZD30
I am replacing the fan belt. Brought one online but there is no way it will fit. Seems too short. With tensioner with breaker bar from underneath and moving it anti clockwise to compress tensioner it won't go on with someone at top trying to put it into alternator. Cant get it up to put it over alternator pulley. Been trying for hours. The belt that was given to me is a 7PK1610. Any Help would be appreciated.

On my Landcruiser I loosen the alternator bolts and wind in the adjuster bolt. Can you not do that?

I have been told belt is too small and not long enough. Can't seem to find the right one and part number to it. Buying them on eBay and they send the wrong ones all the time

Is it too short compared to the old one?
Its easy to get the pattern wrong.

Have you checked the listing on Patrolapart? They were always reliable when I was buying parts for my GQ/Maverick TB42S motor.
They list one for the common rail motor and two for the DDI.

As above how does it compare to the old one they should be more or less the same. If they are then maybe your installing it wrong?

Another option is to go to Partsouq.com, enter your VIN and you will be able to find the correct part number.

First you need to determine what ZD30 engine you have, DI or CRD. Mid 2007 is right around when the engine model was changed.
Aftermarket part # 7PK1610 is for the Di patrol, 7PK1640 is for the CRD. Have a look at the numbers on your old belt.
Genuine part numbers:
CRD: 11720VS40B
Di: 11720VC10C
The belt should be slipped over the air con pulley from underneath last, it’s an easy one man job.

It’s also possible someone has changed the tensioner assembly pulley, and perhaps you have a Di engine with a CRD pulley. Usually you’d change the tensioner and belt as a set on these as the tensioners are known to fail. Use genuine only for the tensioner.

Hi Dean, I would forget after market belts they never fit the pulleys correctly , look like they are fitting ok but are only riding on the top, causing all sorts of delamination problems.
Check your tensioner and all associated hard ware are genuine parts only and there should no dramas unless install is wrong.
You will get it sorted , so don't burn it just yet!, lol.
Cheers Axle
