Why waste time moving the van? It's not far from one end to the other. Stay somewhere in the middle and explore from there.

As a current resident of Sunshine Coast(4 years), I would stay I bit inland say around Yandina and then Landsbourough. That will, give you easy access to all the hinterland areas as well as expensive yuppee areas on the coast. We have discovered that there is so much more in dinning and exploring in the hinterland tha the coast.

Just my thoughts as a recent bananana bender.

Check out the Kenilworth area, show grounds or Charlie Morland campground.

Kenilworth Showgrounds are great. Plenty of space, however a fair hike to the coast if sitting on the beach is your thing. I agree though that there is plenty to see and do and spend your money on in the hinterland as well. What I am saying is that you will not get the beach fix you might be looking for if you stay further inland.
That comes down to personal preference.
Enjoy your stay in Queensland.

Good luck getting in!
I recommended Noosa North Shore campground. Expensive especially since the ferry is $20 each way and there is no piped water to van sites. But beautiful and if you have a 4WD only about 500Metres to the beach entrance and you can drive up to Rainbow Beach with good tides.
Also Cotton Tree is the pick of the parks IMHO. Good luck getting in though. Walking distance to restaurants and river mouth or surf swimming.
