What trek notes do you need?
Can you read a good paper map?
It is a straight forward drive, very
well signposted.
You must be aware of your fuel requirements, as there are only 2
places where you can officially buy fuel……..one being a community that was not open when we did it.
You will require a transit permit, which is free from the Northern Lands Council.
You will need to have accomodation when you arrive there and when you arrive In
Nhulunbuy, you are then required to get another set of permits to stay and visit all the sites in the area from the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation.
What other information do you need, other that good old fashioned research?

Agree with the Dhimurru sites especially
Memorial Park which is inland and only one site. You would have the whole place to yourself. Great for 2-3 days.

To get there you will also need permits to drive & carry alcohol along the Central Arnhem Highway, camping approvals and the like. Just search for Permits to visit East Arnhem Land and you will find a very helpful website.
Gove Boat Club is, excellent but you will need to book months ahead as it's extremely popular.
Don't take the drive in casually it can be extremely rough for many kilometres at a time requiring reasonably low tyre pressures. As
well break your journey at the Dimarou Store on the way in and out as a suggestion. This venue also requires bookings
well in advance.
With the extensive wet season they are having I would expect a slow trip in and out.
