Hi guys,
We've done it!! We've been from East to West.
Steep Point is is fantastic, though our fond thought of wading into the Indian Ocean to mark the occasion proved a little difficult - neither of us was game to jump off the very high cliffs!!! We camped right on
Steep Point, and the view was fantastic. We did have some disappointment though. The only access is by 4WD, and we all know that we are responsible travellers BUT the mess was amazing. We collected 2 shopping bags full of rubbish just from around our
campsite, mostly broken fishing line and tissues and
toilet paper - charming. On the
bright side we saw 15 whales in 2 days, one of which breached about 50 metres away from where we were standing. We also had a bit of fun sand driving around the point.
On another sad note, we are staying here in
Exmouth and someone has stolen our rear number plate! I'm sure there is a boatie somewhere who will be very pleased to have BOAT 11 hanging on their wall I hope they enjoy it, but in the meantime we are having to try to get another plate up from
Adelaide - time and expense!
Enough of our woes - since our last bulletin we have spent 2 weeks staying at
Wogarno Station in Mt. Magnet - great farmstay. They are in the grip of a major drought, but got 1.5inches of rain the day after we left, so they are very happy. We were at Murchison Settlement (great roadhouse, with a very pleasant caravan park and only $10 per night) when the rain started. We got out by the Butchers Track over to the NW Coastal Highway - 170kms of very wet red sand!! After driving on a very wet
Birdsville Track and a very wet
Oodnadatta Track we are getting used to it! We have enjoyed
Cape Range National Park and a boat trip to look at the coral on
Ningaloo Reef.
We are off to
Millstream- Chichester NP in the next couple of days, and then on to
Broome - hope its dry there!! We'll let you know
Happy travels
Anni and Millny

Good to hear you are having good experience driving on wet roads. LOL. Would love to
camp on
Steep Point (after you cleaned it up) and watch the whales. How wonderful. What experiences you are having - thank you for sharing them.

Love hearing about your travels Anni and Millny. Sounds like you are real drought breakers - or maybe you only post when it is wet! It seems like you have been on the road forever. Thanks for cleaning up the rubbish - dunno how people can feel good about themselves if they leave their rubbish laying around.
