Hi, has anyone been to the Helena and Aurora Ranges & Mt Elvire lately?

I'm planning a trip later in the year hoping to follow the Northern Yilgarn Conservation Reserves trek.
Any recent update on track conditions would be appreciated, especially between Kurrajong waterhole to Mt manning and then to Mt Elvire.

Thanks
Ian

Between now and when you want to go will be like chalk and cheese. Suggest you go to the BOM site and find their daily rainfalls for the southern half of the state, look for places like Windarling, Diemals, Bullfinch. In addition phone the Yilgarn shire for daily road reports for roads open or closed.
Winter is the best time in this region, you may get a shower or two and ponding on the tracks/roads but nothing that can't be overcome.

Hi Rod,
Yes, I will check road conditions prior to departure, I was mainly asking about the road between Kurrajong rockhole and Mt Manning, then to Mt Elvire, wanting to know if it is a good formed road or a barely distinguishable overgrown track.

I was there last winter and also back in 2019, all the tracks are good when dry. Both times though it rained and we had to hold up for a few days.
I reckon that track is one of the most interesting if your interested in trees, constantly changing from Mallee, Pine, Salmon gums, etc

No, similar north fromSouthern Cross, up the western side of the H &A ranges, Kurijong rockhole, Mt Manning reserve, then north up the Paynes Find.
There are a lot of new roads out there put in by mining, so it's difficult navigation. Make sure you have spare fuel.
Here is the video of my trip
