I would like a reply from all that are heading out to Gembrook this Saturday . It seams like there will be a few , so I will need to brake up into groups , otherwise we wont get far lol . Also please not , anyone withought a snatch strap and recovery hook/point on there vehicle will not be doing much . I dont want to sound like a party pooper but sick of trying to recover vehicles with no recovery points.

Also let me know if you have maps of the area , that way we can make sure we have enough maps for all the groups.

Meeting point , Gembrook puffing billy car park ( for a quick coffee and chat ) 8:30

channel 10 uhf

Even though we are braking up into groups , will still will keeping in contact , icase one group gets into trouble . We also will meet up for lunch .

Looking forward to the replies

hey eric,
i would like to attend. unfortunately the lads i was coming with have pulled the pin and my rig is not able to 4 wheel drive. front diff is stuffed.
would it be possible to jump in the vehicle of someone who has a spare seat. i would only be doing the saturday part. no overnight stay.
i can bring recovery gear and maps and a good knowledge of the good spots around gembrook.

hey tim,
thanks for the offer. i may just take you up on it. if i am there just look for the dirty big troopcarrier with the "OZSEE" number plates. i can do the camera gig no worries. wont be lowering myself in the terracan. last time i bush bashed did it in a mate's terracan. very impressive piece of machinery. it did the infamous rankin track at gembrook with no problems at all.
oh yeah and for all those people looking to bring gps and all this other paraphernalia you make me chuckle. its only gembrook guys. not the simpson or the canning. you get lost you end up in pakenham. trust me i know. and boy was it funny.

come on dragan,
your not even trying. lol. you dont even need a map. as princes hwy runs through pakenham go one way and you end up in melbourne.go the other way and you take the long circumnavigation of australia way back to melbourne. either way you end up in the same place. you just end up either doing around 70 k's or around 20,000 k's. personally i would like to do the scenic route. now that's an idea. go to gembrook. ring the missus and tell her your lost. be back as soon as possible. get home in a few months. when she asked what happened you tell her you turned left when you should have turned right. had no gps so just followed the road till you got home.

Hm nice one!!!! Dodn't have a mius yet, but I can do that when I get hitched! And I'll say, turned left, didn't have GPS to find way home, didn't have HF radio to contact you, didn't have winch to pull my self out of bog hole, that a tall blonde in a ute came along to help me! That way she gets me all this gear (except the blonde) so I don't get lost again! : ) Simple!!!!

Hi Eric, count me in,

Have strap, recovery point, have UHF. I can get map of the area no worries, but don't have the map that shows tracks that we will be taking, but if you let me know which one is suitable I will pop out to RACV shop or similar to get it.I'll be coming most likely alone, so if that happens to be the case, passenger is wellcome to join! Tall blone 25-30 yo prefferable : )

No need to go out and get a map Dragan , i just wanted to make sure , there was more than one map . And yes Pete , Gemi is easy . I do get around there with no map , but if your a first times out there , you can spend most your day wasting time looking at were you are, that having fun on the tracks . It seams like we were going to get a few cars , so I wanted to make sure that there was going to be some maps flowting around amongst them.

Is this trip for member only ?
If not, I would love to go. I am quite familiar with this area but have never driven with other 4by. Mostly just solo.....so really looking forward to see other 4by action.

Mate if can't find Puffing Billy's car park, I think you will have a problem finding anything else.

Maybe you should consider a GPS and lap top and a few maps and someone to read the lot for you.

I'll be there, as suggested over a month ago. The Puffing Billy Station is just before the IGA (coming from Cockatoo) on the opposite side of the road. Gembrook is not a big place, if you can't find it ask at a shop or servo, or call on channel 10.

I'll only be there for the day despite my original plan.

See you all in the morning.

Jim.
