Hi everyone, I recently received a Kings Tourer rooftop tent , but unfortunately, it’s riddled with mould throughout (pictures below). I was wondering if anyone here has experience dealing with mould in tents or knows a good method to remove it without damaging the fabric?
Any tips, recommended products, or DIY solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I've recently read elsewhere that mould, mildew & dampness appears to be a common problem with the Kings rooftop tents. Particularly under the mattress, even with the use of anti-condensation mesh. Whether this 'spreads' to the rest of the tent is not clear, but I suspect likely. I also suspect that the 'platform' the tent sits on is not insulated & it is this which creates the dampness/condensation problem. The account I read was from a mother &
young daughter who reported the issue to be quite extreme, requiring the removal of the mattress daily to dry it out , and needing to use towels to mop up the water. ie. more than just a bit of dampness. Comments on her post suggested other Kings RTT owners had similar issues.

I’ve found their gear no better or worse than any other brand that rebadges free market stuff.
What I have found is that a high amount of people buying it are first time users. The reviews they leave would drive a business owner to drink.
The kings
Bedourie ovens are Australian made by the same mob (AMS) who make other brands. The instructions for care and seasoning are on the box. The reviews from people attempting to use them are scathing - and hilarious. “Used once and now they are all rusty”…..
For the record I have a set and they are great.
For RTT users and camper trailer users with slide out kitchens under the beds etc that suffer from condensation, a sheet of air cell insulation mat under the mattress works very
well.

If you make a 50% solution of common white vinegar, and spray it over the affected area, it usually kills the mould pretty
well without damaging the canvas. You may need to
check it after a week or two and respray areas which were more severely affected.
And of course, never pack away a wet tent - you must get it dry first - otherwise you will certainly have extensive mould when you next open it up.
