For those who’ve been eagerly awaiting the update – we’re thrilled to announce that the first "draft" of EOTopo 2025 is now available for free viewing on the ExplorOz website! You can check it out here: EOTopo 2025 free online map viewer

Now you can explore it for yourself! We’re currently finalizing the official release documentation, which will be available next week and will address all your questions. As we're focused on completing the final release, we ask that you please hold off on individual inquiries about "what's changed" until we’ve had a chance to release all the details.

Please note, the online map viewer shows only the base map data. When viewed within the Traveller app, you’ll have access to additional layers, such as towns, camps, and points of interest.

Our goal is to have EOTopo 2025 available for purchase next week. We’ll be sending detailed update instructions to all existing owners via email. Stay tuned for the full release, which is just around the corner!

Thanks,
Michelle

Online version looks good. Not sure if the areas in QLD around water are showing roads in Blue is an undocumented feature or an upgrade ??

Your screen shot shows the proliferation of water canals in that area and if you compare to your 2024 mapset it displays the same. Not new.

TIP: In the Traveller app, you can enable the "Dynamic Legend" (open map layers - scroll to bottom of list and tap to select to activate) so that when you tap a feature on the map it will explain what is being shown - so if you test that out, and tap on one of those blue you've identified, the app says "watercover canal areas".

Hi Nick b,

Without wanting to sound like a smart arse, the blue lines represent water courses, (rivers, creeks, canals, lakes etc), same as before with other versions of this mapping app. Also pretty much all mapping apps use blue to represent water courses.

Hi Duncan,

The 2025 EOTopo map set is now finalised with licences for sale via our shop. The final step is the Traveller app update (v9.2), which is required to support the 2025 maps. This update has been released on our end, but it’s currently awaiting store approval and should appear very soon.

Here’s a breakdown of recent promotions to clarify any confusion:

EOTopo Buyer Guarantee – Free Updates
As per our EOTopo Buyer Guarantee (see Licence Terms on the EOTopo page), anyone who purchased the 2024 edition within three months of the 2025 release qualifies for a free upgrade. These customers have already been notified personally via the email address in their licence/account, and the licence is automatically applied to their user account. Once the v9.2 update is available, they can simply download the maps.

25% Discount off the new EOTOPO MAPS for Existing Users
To celebrate our 25th birthday, we’re offering a 25% discount to customers upgrading from older EOTopo editions (2019, 2021, 2023, or 2024) to 2025. Promo codes and instructions were sent via email to registered Traveller app users. This discount is available through our webshop only, which is why emails were sent early to prevent confusion with the in-app purchase option (where discounts aren’t applicable).

25% Discount off the TRAVELLER APP for New Buyers
New customers can purchase the Traveller app at 25% off on both Android and Apple platforms. This promotion runs from 1st–25th January.

We hope these promotions offer something for everyone!

2025 Map Updates
The EOTopo documentation page on our website has been fully updated to outline how we update our maps. Each release includes a comprehensive Australia-wide refresh across various features. Here are the key highlights for 2025:

New data for gas & oil pipelines
New data for water pipelines
New data for water bodies
Latest import & conflation of OSM data in urban areas for residential streets, parks, urban amenities, buildings, industrial areas, carparks etc.
Updated infrastructure - powerlines, masts, towers
Updated roads/tracks surface - for changes from unsealed to sealed road sections in outback
Addition of tracks
Updates to track access restrictions (e.g., 4WD only, permits required, etc.).
Alignment corrections and old track deletions (an ongoing project - user feedback and field research is critical for this)
Tropic of Capricorn moved to match continental shift

Given the scale of updates, it’s impossible to itemise every change, but full details are available on the EOTopo page.

I hope this addresses your questions, and please feel free to reach out if you need further clarification.

Cheers,
Michelle
