I know that Autoskin and Scratchpro are no longer available so just wondering what's the best replacement.

Are "GoGreen" still in business and do the "Goop Guys" make a coating suitable for our cars? I'm planning on making calls to investigate on Monday.

Cheers

Peter

Have you considered BushWrapz? We have it on our Prado and have had many altercations with the scrub, not a mark , very happy with the product.
Every day vertical above ground is a bonus.

Looked at BushWrapz but Autoskin (and a US version we used 2 years ago) has given great protection over the years and it ends up about 1/10th the cost of BushWrapz.

Years ago I used a product called "Paintshield". Just apply roughly with a roller.
It gave very good protection across the Anne Beadell Hwy.
Remove when back home, with pressure washer.

Thanks for the lead Barry but it looks like this is now only available in the US.

We had our Silverado wrapped at Tint City in Bunbury and are very happy with the results. Have been through some serious bush and no scratches

I used Autoskin on my old 4wd. It stuck like glue, and I had to respray the whole car, over $8000.

The reseller had the same experience with his daughter's car. He paid for my repairs, which was outstanding support. Some batches were different to others. I had used it many times before with no issue.

It turns out the product is an industrial product sold by the 44 gallon drum, designed to protect glass and metal. Not paint. Autoskin repackages it to 1 to 4 litre containers.

He stopped selling it and had no support from the owner of the brand.

Don't use it is my very very strong advice.

Did you follow instructions?

I had used it many times in the past with no problems what so ever and they say do not use on bonnet as heat from engine will effect it.

Where was your paint issue?

I agree Stephen. It worked well for our desert track trips. I’ve bought 1 litre of Seal n Peel WB5000 from Paint Access and will be doing a test application before using on our July trip. I’ve also found a US product - PaintShield 5720 but shipping is expensive. It might be the backup solution.

Yes, I followed the instructions, as did the company selling it, who also had it happen when he applied it to his daughter's car. As I said, I have used it many times, but it is simply not designed to go on paint, batches vary apparently.

I am happy for you to disregard my advice if you doubt this. I just want to warn people that it can be very costly.

It stuck to every side panel, guards , doors, rear quarter panel. Everywhere I applied it. Basically an entire respray on a 4-year-old 4WD.

Buy an older 4wd and don't worry about it. It's going to get dings in the paint at the local shopping centre car park or scratches from the drive through at McSpew anyway.

I already have an older 4wd! 18 year old 4.2 Patrol and it still presents well. I’d like to keep it looking good when I eventually sell it.
