For the most accurate and updated information on the flooding in Outback Central and Western Queensland and now South Australia, there is only one place to monitor, my new Facebook Page

2025 Outback Floods.

The site is full of videos, images and the latest first hand information from locals on the ground.

This is an example that you will not see anywhere else…..

The Cooper Creek at Innamincka as at 7am this morning, Saturday 5 April was 8.25m over the causeway and rising, with the flood peak body from Windorah still not here yet.

Some great info on your FB feed Stephen ....... including really alarming vision from inside the cab of a ute being washed off a flooded causeway, causing the occupants to exit, while trying to cross flood waters.

The level at Cullyamurra was 8.25 at 7 am and is now at 8,39 at noon, so still rising. It will still have to rise another 2m to match the 2010 flood in height. It looks like a lot of water is still above Windorah so the actual flood volume may be more than 2010 so 2025 will last longer than 15 years ago and have more water even if the peaks at Nappa and Cully are less.
As far as Innamincka causeway goes see pic below. Even subtracting 1.9m , it is still well over 6m above. Nevertheless the Cooper Creek Ferry will have to be dragged out of mothballs to be operational by mid June. Time for another ride on this iconic craft. See you there!

Information and photos on my site are from Innamincka residents are up to date information and yesterday water levels were only 800mm below the Nappa Merri bridge and is still to come. My 3 local Innamincka contacts are all saying the same thing……these levels are rising very fast.

The other day at Windorah the water was 2.18m over the bridge and was still rising and will still be days away from Innamincka.

Every Shire Mayor and grazier that I have spoken to are saying one thing….these are the biggest floods in living history for the Channel Country.

Dont want to burst your bubble Stephen but there is a wealth of info surrounding the floods in Queensland on facebook. One site cannot possibly cover everything. Same as when we had the cyclone and flood here a month ago. Vital information was reliant on half a dozen facebook groups.

I am in direct contact with the Department of Infrastructure and Trasport, Shire Mayors, graziers, disaster relief groups like BlazeAid, ARE YOU BOGGED MATE?, GIVIT, and these groups are reporting on the page, to give accurate and up to date information.

I have received phone from a number of ABC radio stations, Gympie Muster and so on and even one Shire Mayor told me that their community felt like they were left our and no one knew what they have been through.

Yes there are are pages…..but not groups that are dedicated to just one thing…these floods and now one of the biggest issues that you will only hear in my page…Mental Health, as like Tony the Mayor of Longreach was telling me, this is going to be another tragedy that no one will hear about, as they know that in his area, many like take their own lives in months to come.

Does anyone here know the area well enough to be able to tell me which rivers/crossings I should be focussed on in regard to when roads begin to open? Currently we are patiently waiting 'as long as it takes) in Tibooburra. We had originally planned to go via Thargo, but this now seems an unrealistic expectation. We'd still like to get to get to Boulia via Bedourie if we can (to visit Lake MacHattie). I recognise where we can go will be dictated by the as yet unknown damage to roads, but it would be very helpful to know where the 'crossings to watch' are.

[Image cannot be loaded]One of my friends lives in Bedourie and when last speaking with her yesterday, floodwaters are still rising and the town has been closed for around 2 weeks now and she was saying they could be locked in for up to two months , but all depends how quickly the levels drop.

If you check out my site, there was a good chart comparing the 2010 and 2025 floods…..looks like a very big and longer flood for many parts of Queensland and South Australia and records broken this year.

Given the amount of detouring and potential waterlogged tracks, now is also a great time to inspect wheel bearings—especially trailer or caravan ones. Water crossings, silt, and prolonged wet-road driving can compromise seals and lead to bearing failure, often without obvious warning until it's too late. If you're waiting in Tibooburra, a quick repack or inspection wouldn't hurt before the next leg.
