If anyone is looking for an Android tablet to run
ExplorOz Traveller, I've just done a two week test on this device on a trip and I'm very pleased with it.
For $249 the specs are superb. It worked very
well with
ExplorOz Traveller on the trip.. good
bright screen, comes pre-shipped with screen protector applied.

I had seen Alldocube mentioned favourably on another
forum, and did a bit of research. What put me off was the apparent lack of updates. Is that correct?

Good question.. it updated after I first booted it.. and I did note there's another update waiting.. I'll report back in a few months.

It's easy to find it. If you don't know where to find it - just go to "Settings" and down near the bottom of the options, tap on "About xxx" (the xxx will be the word tablet or the name of your tablet.) Tap on "Software information" and you will find the version number amongst that.

I think that's right. My Google Pixel 6 phone has 15, but I don't recall when I got the upgrade. A while ago I think, as IIRC there have been several rounds of subsequent updates.
My question was more one of who supplies the updates. Google supplies the updates for my phone, Samsung for my tablets. If someone had a tablet with open source Android LineageOS installed then I guess you get updates from that source.
It's a question of how timely the updates are and how long they continue for. Hardware drivers (and bloatware) have to be incuded as I understand it, and it's a question of how long they maker is prepared to do this. At least you're getting some, which is better than I feared. It will be interesting how long they continue for.
