TB42 fuel pump

G'day all my fuel pump is leaking oil so iwent in too a store wont mention which one and the guy said you can replace the seal but it is highly recommended to replace the pump so he got me a price of $170 i thought this was a bit expensive so im looking for a second opinion.

Any opinions would much appreciatred

Sounds cheap, diesel pump is about four grand new.

PS is it the one inside the fuel tank or the other one?

Yeah i knew the diesel pump wasnt cheap thats why i got a petrol amongst other things but i wont start a conflict : )

I thought it only had one pump but yeah its the one bolted to the engine not sure if i should repair the seal or get a new pump.

That seems cheap (ish) the fuel pump for my wifes Suzuki Sierra was $140 including taxes etc. If I was you I'd purchase the new one to be sure, a lot of fuel pumps these days are piened (spelling) over so repairs are difficult, nothing would be worse than taking the pump out trying to repair it and then realise you need a new one anyway. My wifes had the same oil leak problem, the shaft the seal runs on is more than likely worn so if you replace the seal it would more than likely only be delaying the enevitable. My opinions.

Hi Pauly I replace my pump on my 4.2 efi gq at a cost of 400 $ this was a new pump from the nissan dealer in Wagga Waggs,and I thougth that was cheap.

Struth, why 4G for an diesel pump. The more I hear about diesels the more pleased I am I don't have one :)
