Need help from some old hands
Lcooler members
There was a thread on the 80series section
A guy went to
Canberra
With his 2500kg towing capacity build date after 93... 80series with the bigger brakes
Had a formal letter from Toyota stating his vehicle is identical to the 3500kg rated later models with same bigger brakes
Thought I kept the article on my laptop or emails
But it seems to be lost or gone with the lcool records
Being that there would be many members on here
Did anyone keep a copy of it
Have the letter from Toyota
Or kept the engineer contact details ?
90-92 80 series came with smaller brakes and the tow upgrade wasn't allowed
Just chasing the documents
Contact details
Toyota won't supply with it
Must of got onto wrong person
This is for the 80series from 93 onwards with the standard larger brakes
Any help be wonderful

This is what you wrote May 1, 2015. ThreadID: 117684
May help identify the engineer in Canberra/Queanbeyan area
"This mod would require an enqineers cert..im guessing
as such I have kept this persons details for future references if I needed or someone else in future..
john Wilson in the Canberra/quenbeyen area... look up www.vehicleengineering.com.au/
sorry I don't have a phone number but this should be ample info to help you out..
have been told depending on which brand of towbar.. all that needs to be done is remove the 2500kg towbar rating and either weld or pop rivet a 3500kg onto it..
I used to make towbars at work.
you possibly might require a brake upgrade to get the 3500kg rating..
I know up until late 92 the 80 series had smaller brakes..
later models had larger brakes standard and that is all I know..
only speaking to an engineer and going from there, than hearing from idiots on a
forum who say the vehicle needs a rebuild or cant be done.."
