I think you will find that it is a bitumen road, and has been for a number of years?
No reports here

When I first drove it 20 years ago, the road was single lane bitumen from Daly Waters Hi-Way Inn to the McArthur River Mine and then dual lane from there to Bing Bong (the mines port on the coast.) The mine is around 50km east of Heartbreak Hotel.

Drove the road from Hell Gate to Boorooloola a few years ago (September 2022) . Thought I had broken my body but car and caravan were ok.

Road from Boorooloola to cape Crawford is all tar and a good road so no problems with the van.

Along the way stop at the Caranbirini Conservation reserve. A great walk around the rocks. really worthwhile. Also called the lost city. is approx. 40 KM from Cape Crawford.
