In the context of this particular thread I could intepret your question one of two ways. But as this forum is probably G rated (MA at most) I'll just have to say:

Yes, I'll be attending. Looking foward to cruisin' the dunes!

Have been stocking up on recovery gear but will probably only use it for snatching stuck Nissans. LOLOL!

Cheers

This snippet was pinched from post number 8408:

"My new lady to the rescue she strips of her shoes and jeans without me asking and in her t - shirt and panties steps onto the puddle to render assistance and this is how we found out the puddle was 4 ft deep when she almost disapeared from sight. (No croc's in Victoria thankfully)"

Muddy Girl,

Don't want to intrude on your naming rights. The story was too good!

I was originally StevenL but during the EO gathering at Berri the group decided that was pretty boring so we had a UHF convoy conference and collectively came up with Muddy 'doe (from Playdoe/Prado and the fact that I too like mud!). We did discuss the fact that we already had a Muddy Girl but the group thought we could differentiate sufficiently.

Possibly gets confusing if I sign off my replies as just "Muddy". I'll try to remember to use the full moniker for the signoff. If you have objections then I'll have to put it to the forum for another group think!

Cheers

Mmmm

What is it with women that when one says

"Hi Andrew,

thanks for that..

Muddy girl" ...

you get the uneasy feeling that it is not a "thankyou"......even though when you read it it could be nothing else

Andrew I think you will still get that punch in the nose one day LOL when you finally meet MG.
Either that or I know someone who will steal your hat.

That post was 8408, boy that seems so long ago, but not to you,
Your memory is amazing, maybe you should be a doctor or something with a memory like that.
What happened to the story of that tyre you used to tell, with photos.
(Should there be an apostraphe thingy in that)

I think Muddy Doe should be carefull with how he uses that name as it is proprietry to MG.
But I'm sure if he lists and acknowlagement at the foot of each post that the name Muddy is used with the consent of the true owner that earned the name in the true sense of the word then she might let him continue to use it.

He will also have to pay a fee to continue to use it, Let's see what is appropriate, Ah yes I think he should wash and wax once per year the Troopy.

Many replies

Steven, judging by your last visit to our (un)fair state Muddy Doh! would be more appropriate when you got your travel brichure in teh mail from the Gerang Gerang wallopers.

John, I was wondering if Muddy Girl was coming as I missed you and her at Dimboola dn wanted to catch up, I wasnt aware she was your girlfriend, I simply thought you two were "an item"

Hoping the truck and the weather will be fine, but even if it isn't, we will be there.

Hey Eric 'scus my butting in but just a couple of suggestions, if you don't already know. Dune buggy club dunes are great for a play(take a boogy board for the kids), about half way to Beachport and inland a bit. Also salt pool/lake near Beachport, great for a swim (apparently salt improves floatation)

Have just booked in to the Lakeside CP using the online booking facility. Good stuff. I've booked from Fri arvo til Tuesday. Seeing as we are roughing it in a CP I have gone with a powered site (only $2 or 3 more per night so might as well).

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Work Bonz? I actually put on the form I would be there about that time but am sure I can change all or that. I have to set up the gear though the other end as I will be in luxury under canvas like Muddy 'doe.

Had a look at the 1947 aerial photo and it only shows the back of Marie's farm. Looks better developed than ours at the time or 15 years later for that matter.

John,

Marie says that her Mum and Dad would have been there in 1947, they moved there in '45, so the improvement you see would be their handiwork. Cya in Robe

Hi for those who haven't booked yet...and are ringing the CP, the woman most likely to answer the phone is Joan, she and her husband aren't the owners they have taken over for a time while the owners are on holiday...so be patient..coz they're still familiarizing themselves with everything...and by way of identification if you're speaking with Joan...tell her you know "Tegan's mum, Lynda"..and she'll know exactly who you're talking about..ahhahahaha

oops......... hit the wrong button/key

As I was saying:

1) prize for the FURTHEST TRAVELLED
will be a bottle of top quality ROBE wine (not Cape Jaffa)

2) prize for the MOST BOGGED ON A BEACH
will be, again, a bottle of fine ROBE wine (keeping it local still. (Not Cape jaffa or "Limestone Coast")

Donated by me, judged by all of us.

This could be awarded at the Lakeside Caravan Park barbie that will no doubt happen, as these things do.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Bring your long handled shovel, pumps & tyre pressure guages.

Cheers

Even tho' Ruth & Ian own a 'Yota, I thnk they should be invited as the QUEENSLAND ambassadors to the Robe weekend that Eric has proposed for the Melbourne Cup weekend.

Surely they can't have many terrorists visiting the "Doylesville" CP in November?

C'mon everyone, get behind our efforts to repay their hospitality. Ruth has been a great friend to many of & it's up to us to get her tanked, er, sorry, relaxed in our part of the world.

D'ya reckon they could eat fresh cooked crayfish? Gotta be better than bloody yabbies out of a muddy river that hardly ever runs........

They are used to red sand, well, we've got white sand!

Wots the diff? It's only a few (thousand) k's round trip. Besides, they will need the break after the B'ville Races.

And no, Ruth, ya can't buy Four X beer in Robe.

LOL, but sorta serious

Sounds like a good weekend and a chance to get to meet some fellow forumites. Anyone camping on the beach? If not I'll book into the caravan park.

Hope you have a great time.

Last time I was at Robe and the dunes was January Long Weekend in 2004. Three vehicles, staying at Kingston (where the free shack was). Deciced to go 4wding, drove to Robe and then tried to get through to Beachport. Well no way, every dune we got to it seemed there were countless 4wds from either clubs or casual groups to wait for. At one stage we waited for no less than 40 cars, and groups of 12-25 were not uncommon. It seemed that the starting the Beachport would have seen us get through a lot quicker. In the end we cut it short just before Nora Crena and headed back. Hope if you go Robe-Beachport that you make better time than we did!

Maybe they should have one way traffic on long weekends or peak seaon weekends, to ensure safety and minimise frustration. Or here it is, maybe you should have to get a permit for a specified time and have the number of vehicles limited! There's one for discussion.

I guess the up side was that because we were travelling the opposite way to most other vehicles, when we needed to power up a dune the track was much less corrugated and bumpy because it was the down side for the other vehicles, less track wear.

Food for throught
