Howdy,

I have a 97' Nissan GQ 2.8 turbo diesel. The rating on my factory installed tow bar is 2000kg for a manual transmission. I know that about two years ago Nissan did up-grade some of their tow ratings. What I need to know is this a fact for my Patrol, where can I go (ph. no. or email address) to confirm this and get something in writing. I need this as I intend buying a caravan in the near future and the rating is important in which van I buy and also for insurance. Any one out there able to help????

Thanks.

the 4wd Association should be able to help you with your issues....

I will also ask at our club meeting next week, and post the figures on gqpatrol.com

My understanding is that this is a state issue.
Naximum set by vehicle manufacturer or 1.5 times the tow vehicle weight with proper trailer brakes.

Check the web site of your state roads authority, in Vic its Vic Roads.

Have a look at this site.
It's obviously no longer an easy item to determine but this may help.
the 1.5 times rule still applies in some circumstances.
