PS: Just to add – this season alone I personally took more than half a dozen calls from travellers on the CSR who had decided mid-trip to switch their navigation software and downloaded
ExplorOz Traveller right there on the track!
They were calling on mobile phones via Starlink after the download to ask questions. A couple might have even been pre-purchase – I can’t recall the exact details as I don’t keep individual call records.
The point is, it really struck us as a
sign of the times. Travellers are now so
well equipped with Starlink that even in the most remote part of Australia they can not only make calls, but actually download, install, and set up an entire mapping and navigation system on
the spot. That’s pretty incredible to witness – and we were genuinely thrilled to be able to help people through a tricky moment.
