Googs Track

A most adventurous 4WD short-cut for those travelling from the west to Coober Pedy & the Alice. Excellent views & plenty of wildlife, featuring Goog's Lake & Mt. Finke. No dogs permitted.

We will be starting the googs on Sunday 28th September
Can anyone advise me on the conditions going south to north

The conditions really dont change much..

Nice easy dirt track through to the Lake.. the larger dunes start after you depart the lake.. the southern dune approaches are very scalloped out and it'll rock you back and forth as you ascend. Just lower your tyre pressures until you just crawl up them at idle with ease - if you're spinning wheels as you go up, lower your tyre pressures more. None of the dunes are difficult.

After Mt Finke you'll have a few more dunes then some very bad corrugations until you hit the Tarcoola Road.

Not quite that far back :)

The sand was damp, so the dunes were easier than normal.
