Hello,
I have a Uniden GPS205 UHF hand held radio.
It is one of a pair.
The volume is extremely low.
I have tried an external speaker and it makes no difference.
I know it's a long shot but does any one know if there's a remedy.
The volume control on the display shows its adjusting but makes no difference.

William.
You said this is, one of a pair. Does the other unit do it too??? or is this the ONLY one which has low volume. Not clear there! If only one unit behaves that way then it is possibly faulty!
I don't have one , but have you removed the batteries so there is no power to the circuitry and later replaced with good cells?
Are the batteries able to deliver sufficient current to drive the speaker output?
At 1 watt, they claim transmit of positional info to a large distance for 1 watt output. Really? As long as you are lost within 6km, OK!

Hi RMD,
The other radio works perfectly.
I have replaced the batteries.
I reckon it is faulty for sure, I was just wondering if there was a simple fix.

Hi William, no-one could answer your question with any certainty without technically examining the radio. And that may not be simple, in $ cost anyway.
Usually, faults in the audio section of radios are easy to identify but may not be simple to repair if a faulty IC (integrated circuit) is involved as often their type marking is not visible so cannot be identified for replacement. A serviceman also may likely charge a fee to inspect the radio with no promise of repair. The fact that it is a discontinued model makes it even difficult to obtain a circuit diagram.
As a "Parramatta and Brentford supporter." you are likely not in my paddock so I cannot inspect it.
Sorry if that is not what you hoped to hear.
Maybe Nomadic Navarra (Peter) could be of more assistance.

Thank you Allan,
I feared it was going to be certainly a non economical repair.
It was worth asking in case some one had a "ah ha" moment and had a easy fix.
I fear it will be sent to the preschool were my wife works as a toy.
