Just wondering if there are any plans to include fuel prices in the App?

I use Petrol Spy when travelling but I hate changing Apps while driving, would be great to see prices on the map just like camp sites.

At this stage, we don’t have plans to integrate live fuel price data into the app.

However, users are welcome to add current prices in the Review section of the relevant Place for each fuel outlet — either by using an existing listing or creating a new one where needed. This user-driven approach works particularly well in remote and outback regions where real-time data is often unavailable anyway.

When we previously explored integrating official fuel data, we found that access was only available under costly commercial licences, which made it unviable for us to include.

TroyR,

Considering that fuel prices can change daily, unless there is a “live” link to a particular fuel price app, this would be very difficult to maintain any sort of accuracy. Plus, if I understand the system, once you go into an area without cellular signal, it would no longer be accessible, as once in “Off Line” mode, you don’t have access to “live” data.

While fuel prices on the map could be useful it would need to be complete and up to date to be of any real use. Petrol Spy serves me well.
However what I feel would be really useful is a complete list of places that refill gas cylinders. Would not need prices. Sometimes hardware stores and some service stations fill them but do not clearly advertise this. We have been carting an empty cylinder around Tasmania for days and got it filled this afternoon at a hardware store that we would never have found if I wasn’t told about it by a local.

The Gas Swap/Refill is a feature for all Place types listed in Camps/Accom category, plus also for the Fuel Place Type listed in the Services category. I think we can easily add it to the SHOP which would enable you to add this one. Good idea !

Gas Bottle Refills is still a useful site.

Hardware stores would be my go to anywhere in the whole of Australia , if they don’t fill or have swap and go they’d probably know where in town does.

Ditto on Petrol Spy.
In Southern Adelaide yesterday/today
Petrol $1.59, 4Km away $1.95
Diesel $1.69, 4Km away $1.98

Last night spoke to the chap using the adjacent boweser, he did not realise it was a discounted price, he just fills up when he needs it at the closest available.
