Starlink Mini new Data Plan

It's not only the mini, it's all Starlinks.

I have had my Starlink Mini less than a year and this is the second plan change. This is a great change.

I have received the same offer for my two standard dishes.

It seems Starlink is in some sort of discount frenzy at the moment. Something I understand is not that unusual.
I am considering a residential package as our internet has deteriorated to the point of compromising our safety. We have very little radio signal and rely on internet for bushfire and other emergency info. Starlink is advertising free hardware at present ie no up front cost for the dish. But when I investigated it there is a $244 charge for my address - something like a demand premium. The monthly charge is $139 oh and by the way I have to return the dish if I ever want to leave. I am also led to believe that dealing direct with Starlink is not much fun.

Enter Telstra. As of yesterday their price has dropped for the hardware too - from $549 to $349 - and I own the gear. Monthly charge is $125. Doesn't take long to do the maths. Now I accept that dealing with Telstra is no walk in the park either but I can at least walk into their shop and do face to face.

Personally I think Musk is a bit like the Collingwood FC. You either love them or hate them but you can't deny their success.

Be careful - you might injure yourself jumping to conclusions. You have completely misunderstood my post. I was commenting on your post re pricing and how it is not just the mini that is coming down but also the residential. Others had also mentioned the residential variances.

I have no need for a Mini. Most of my remote travelling is behind me.

I have assisted with the installation and implementation of 2 Minis on both of my son's vehicles. It is they who informed me that dealing with Starlink directly has been frustrating. Nevertheless they find the technology reliable and it assists in their extensive remote touring. I did say "I am led to believe" which was based on their independant experiences.
Yes - I know how it works and in fact I speak to them most weeks. Sometimes with perfect clarity others with generally acceptable levels of reception.

I never said that I am anti Musk. In fact I am completely agnostic about the man. My comment was along the lines of - love him or hate him you can't argue his success.

Ultimately I will have a residential Starlink. At present - Telstra offer a better package than Starlink directly. The way things are changing it may be different next week. Which is the point I was making.

Won't be long before your mobile will refer to Starlink when normal services are not available.

All seems pretty good for 100Gb of data, but depends on how you want to use it.
Had a friend who had the 80Gb of data…..brought his starlink for a weekend away and we watched the footy for 2 nights….had 5Gb left after the weekend.
For a person on the road permanent, the full plan for $190/mth would be the go, but for the weekend camper like myself, even the $80/mth plan wouldn’t be worth it.
But for a rural user with no other option, its a great idea….just doesn’t work for everybody.

Just a side note.

Apparently "old mate" Elon is now providing Star Link to the Russians to kill Ukrainians.

New reports said that's how they targeted the passenger train last week.

What some folks will do to make a buck eh.............................
