Inserting places in an EOT Route

I haven't done much travelling in the last year and hadn't used EOT very much, additionally most of my extensive route creation was done using much earlier versions. Finally creating a new route I had an issue inserting intermediate destinations. If I tried via the map (not via places search tool) to insert a place that was part of another route, then the entire route would be appended. I figured that I was missing something so fired off a help desk query. Michelle replied within the hour. The upshot is that you need to turn off the routes layer on the map to stop this happening.
