We use the SmartWorld adapter in our 25
Ranger for ExplorOz. We were having problems with it continually rebooting. Eventually tracked the problem down to the USB-C in th car not providing sufficient power. Our solution was to purchase a 3 -way USB-C splitter. One port goes to a USB-C cigarette plug, one to the SmartWorld adapter and the other to the car's USB-C for Android Auto. All works
well and have not had it reboot once since installing. May help someone else with a similar problem.

I had a similar issue of intermittent dropping off and needed to reboot, very frustrating
I narrowed it down, not to a power issue but the USB cable must have had a microscopic fault in it and as soon as it transferred power & data it must have caused a separation in one of the wires causing separation and thus dropping out.
Your talking microns as far as size goes in the fault and also microscopic measurements in heat buildup with data transfer. Either way that was the issue.
I changed out a few USB cables to no effect, noting that some USB cables are power supply only and others are power & data but not all of sufficient specs to transfer the data
I proved it by using a USB cable from a hard drive (that was obviously
well over specs to supply the hard drive) and all worked perfectly.
Sometimes the most frustrating issues are caused the simplest things and the hardest to narrow down.
