East end recently graded towards the west. Not sure how far. We expect come east from Emu in August.
West end was graded to within about 100km west the border in about July 2025, but the corrugations come back pretty quickly.
Cheers,
Peter

Excellent videos Peter and Margaret, thanks very much. The road looked fine on the WA side. I've been told the corrugations on the SA side are horrendous but didn't see that on your videos out of Voakes Hill. It was quite sandy too, but did you come across sand hills like you'd see on the Simpson - we did the Madigan line recently, which is of course, all sand hills.
Did u see much wildlife? Wasn't apparent in your videos
BTW what did u take the videos with exactly.

First of all you will need 3 permits.

Only 1 fuel for the 1400 km, only at Ilkurlka

Lots of history out there, do as much research as you can, take extra fuel and do the side detour

Diesel is usually pretty safe at Ilkurlka, but if you need petrol, it is essential that you call them to organise that well in advance. They don't stock it unless someone wants it or you are just lucky.
The shop has a few basic supplies.

Thanks, it's diesel for us and I'll be carrying a lot extra anyway. I'm a bit afraid of what the diesel proice is going to be but it is what it is. Thanks

Thanks Stephen. Permits all sorted and I've got plenty of fuel but will be calling Ilkurlka too. We've done a fair bit of research already so what side tours do you mean? Voakes Hill and the plane wreck?
