The 4 cyl 2.7 RV did not have a sub tank, but it was permanent 4WD. However, the 6 cycl 3.4 RV did have the sub tank.

Some test writers liked the 2.7 while others reckoned it needed more power. My brother has the 3.4RV and it goes very well and gets reasonable economy (~11L/100kms) freeway city running, not sure about the 2.7 but assume it would get marginally better.

The 2.7 Prado is full time 4 wheel drive,it has no sub tank(but the mounting brackets are there),mine gets about 11 litres per 100kms on the highway and13-15 litres per 100kms towing the camper. They are a great model to have.No problems in the 105000kms since I have had it.

The 2.7 motor in the prado is the 4.5 litre petrol 80/100 motor with 2 cyl lopped off, making it a 4cyl engine.

Tried and tested in 6 cyl form, and a great little 4cyl engine too.
