The Howqua is a beautiful river; that's the problem with camping there in good weather.

I'm thinking of going up there in the next few weeks and wondering if it's possible to get a quiet spot without competing for campsites in Winter.

Any advice on how busy it is forcamping from Fry/s Hut to 8 Mile camping over winter?

Yes, I would like to know this as well, as we are planning pretty much the same thing. Synergy!

After the Sheepyard Flat camp area, Howqua Track turns into Brocks Road, which is gazetted as seasonally closed from mid June to late October. Not sure if the western section of Brocks Road is closed, but just take that into consideration.

Thanks for the heads up. Indeed the track closure list includes Brocks Rd. But the maps show the road as open, with the entry tracks from Brocks Rd to Noonans flat camping area

It looks like the road is open all the way to Bluff Hut Track ( which is closed) or Upper Jamison ( 4wd)
