Hi ExplorOz team,
I’m wondering whether more direct click-routing options are available in Traveller, or whether this is something that could be added in the future.
What I’m looking for is the ability to click points on the map to build a route, have the route follow roads/tracks between those points, and then export the finished route as a GPX file.
At the moment, the process of clicking on
places, adding them to a route, and inserting custom waypoints to force the route along the roads or tracks I actually want to take feels clunky. For me, this is probably the current limitation of the software.
The frustrating part is that the ExplorOz maps are excellent, and in many areas they are much better than the alternatives. However, other mapping apps seem to handle route creation and GPX export much more smoothly. Their maps just aren’t as good, especially for remote or off-road travel.
Is improved click-to-route functionality something that is currently available, planned, or being considered?
I think being able to quickly click through a route, adjust it on the map, and export a clean GPX would make Traveller a much stronger tool for trip planning, particularly for motorcycle, 4WD and remote touring users.
Thanks.

I appreciate its not 100% what you're after, but the "measure tool" allows you to "click out a line" and then convert that into a Track Log.. just the line though, no interpretation of roads that match your line.
Draw the line then hit the little Save icon that appears to create a Track Log
This is what I use, I then add the
Track Logs to a Folder. Each major trip has its own Folder that consists of
Places and small
Track Logs that I've created with the Measure tool.. I really don't use the inbuilt automatic
Navigation tools within ExplorOz - road selection between two points is always my own decision.

Hi Duncan
In support of what you have said, I too use the measure tool. It is rather primitive but quick and easy. I gave up on the route tool a long time ago as it was hopelessly slow and complex to use. Need to be able to select start and end points then if not where you want to go just drag and drop the route to the
places and roads/tracks that you want to include. Would be so user friendly to use and easy to adjust mid trip if required. I have seen something very similar on another app somewhere but probably outside the capability of the software David is using. Don’t know.
