Hi everyone,
We are new to the ExplorO[Image cannot be loaded]z community and based in
Adelaide. We are always interested in discovering more of South Australia and would love to hear from experienced travellers.
What are some of your favourite road trips from
Adelaide, particularly lesser-known
places that are worth exploring?
Keen to hear your recommendations and experiences!

South Australia is very diverse.
It might help if we knew what interests you most, if you prefer to travel with others, or alone, what your mode of transport is and the duration of the trips you prefer.
Start with the
Flinders Ranges. There is enough there to keep you entertained for years and it is unique.
Cheers,
Peter

Maralinga is closed to the public for the rest of this year (at least) and there will be no tours during this time.
The tour is a very worthwhile experience.
(We will actually be there next week with the Friends of the
Great Victoria Desert)
Cheers,
Peter

Port Lincoln
Start by eating fish & chips on the jetty at
Port Lincoln with the sun setting just nice and tranquil.
Port
Lincoln national park Fisherman's Point
camp ground is good
water on both sides of the point.
The drive from
Coffin Bay to
Ceduna there is lots to see and along the way you can get a great view of the Great Australia bight at
Hall bay gravel road access no facilities but worth an overnight stay at least. There was plenty of
Dingo tracks around when I was there in May last year pups as
well but didn't see any.

Welcome fellow Crow Eater.
There are just so many special
places, but you mentioned lesser known
places worth exploring, so here are some to get you planning.
The Riverland is rich in out of the way
places to explore and
places like
Chowilla Game Reserve out to Danggali Conservation
Park is great to explore.
Station Country east of
Burra, out through Redbanks Conservation
Park and the special Oratan Rock and up to
Yunta, cross over the Barrier Highway good
camping at the former Walkaringa Gold
Mine Ruins and the back roads into the Flinders.
Some great special drives through the Mid North.
Horseshoe Top End is a great place thank many would not know about.
If you have never been to the Flinders,
well that would take many trips to fully explore the area.
The West Coast has many special little known drives, eg the Buckleboo Stock Route.
Many out of the way
places in the
Kingoonya area to explore.
Hope this is a good starting point.
Cheers
Stephen
